Introducing Ubiquity
Mozilla Labs » Blog Archive » Introducing Ubiquity
Today we’re announcing the launch of Ubiquity, a Mozilla Labs experiment into connecting the Web with language in an attempt to find new user interfaces that could make it possible for everyone to do common Web tasks more quickly and easily. The overall goals of Ubiquity are to explore how best to:
* Empower users to control the web browser with language-based instructions. (With search, users type what they want to find. With Ubiquity, they type what they want to do.)
* Enable on-demand, user-generated mashups with existing open Web APIs. (In other words, allowing everyone–not just Web developers–to remix the Web so it fits their needs, no matter what page they are on, or what they are doing.)
* Use Trust networks and social constructs to balance security with ease of extensibility. * Extend the browser functionality easily.
Daaaaaaamn! Pretty cool. Watch the video on the website

Space Cube Linux Computer
A real Space Oddity arrives at PC Pro | PC Pro blog
It’s fair to say that the Space Cube isn’t overloaded with storage space, either. Sixteen megabytes of flash memory is included on-board, and the OS - a version of Red Hat, the popular Linux operating system - runs off a 1GB CompactFlash card that slots into the side of the Space Cube. There’s also 64MB of DDR SDRAM that, admittedly, doesn’t even match up to the lowliest of netbooks - let alone a desktop PC.The Space Cube’s chassis is, well, a marvel. It’s utterly rock solid and made of metal - we were worried it was going to be a bit of a flimsy plastic prototype - and is clearly able to withstand more than a few knocks up in orbit.

MADISON — Debra Bartoshevich hoped to attend the Democratic National Convention this week as a delegate helping to give the party's nomination to Hillary Rodham Clinton.Instead, the Wisconsin nurse crashed the Democrats' party Monday by starring in a campaign ad for Republican John McCain. The spot targets former Clinton supporters as Democrats try to unite the party behind Barack Obama during the Denver convention. In the ad, Bartoshevich describes herself as a "proud Hillary Clinton Democrat" who is switching sides to vote for a Republican for the first time in her life.Newsvine - Ousted Dem. delegate stars in McCain ad

7 Comic Book Superpowers the World Can Do Without
1. The Power to Eat Thingsmental_floss Blog » 7 Comic Book Superpowers the World Can Do Without
If you’re desperate for heroes with mediocre superpowers, look no further than the Legion of Super-Heroes, the 30th-century superhero squad that started out in 1958. Packed with uninspiring members, the legion featured the likes of Bouncing Boy (who could bounce around like a ball), Chlorophyll Kid (who could make plants grow faster) and Dream Girl (who could tell the future through dreams). But the strangest of all was Matter-Eater Lad, who just ate things. Matter-Eater Lad’s finest moment was stopping an indestructible machine from destroying the universe… by eating it. The storylines were that good. In 1993, DC Comics decided that the character was too silly for the newer, grittier style of comics, and he was rewritten as the Legion’s personal chef, who didn’t really get involved in the combat.

Debian delivers FreeRunner open-phone package
The announcement, during Debian's DebConf8 in Mar del Plata, Argentina, points out the potential upside for the nascent FreeRunner: the Debian ecosystem brings more than 20,000 applications to the FreeRunner, launched in July and the successor to Openmoko's Neo 1973 - claimed to be the first open mobile phone.More importantly, the availability of Debian as a development platform gives Openmoko a leg up in the increasingly competitive market for open smart mobile devices based on Linux. Debian joins Qtopia and GTK+ as development platform options for the FreeRunner. The move gives Debian a lift after Intel revealed it was dropping the Debian-based Ubuntu Linux in favor of Fedora for the second version of its Moblin mobile Linux project.Debian delivers FreeRunner open-phone package | The Register

Lucasfilm pulls PhoneSaber from the iTunes store
Macenstein | Lucasfilm pulls PhoneSaber from the iTunes store
Knowing that George Lucas is perhaps the only person more controlling of his product licensing than Apple’s Steve Jobs, I suppose this news should not exactly come as a shock to anyone, but according to TheMacBox (creators of the wildly popular (and free) PhoneSaber lightsaber emulator), THQ Wireless (who owns the rights for Star Wars apps on mobile devices) has asked that PhoneSaber be removed from the iTunes store.

Are we 'A-Team' Yet?
Ice Cube talks 'A-Team' | Hero Complex | Los Angeles Times
Director John Singleton wants to take on the Reagan-era show “A-Team” and update it, making the fugitive commando team all veterans of the war in Iraq. The grizzled Bruce Willis is in mind for the role of Col. Hannibal Smith (portrayed by George Peppard in the old NBC series) while Woody Harrelson would be wingnut pilot “Howlin’ Mad” Murdock (played by scene-stealer Dwight Shultz in the original). And what about the role of the scowling Sgt. Bosco “B.A.” Baracus, made famous by the gold-laden Mr. T?
It does sound cool but for some reason I'm afraid they would make it like the new Ben Stiller war movie "Tropic Thunder"

Spreading Funkyness » Posty
