Chair changes colour if you're fat
News in Science - Chair changes colour if you're fat - 30/07/2007
Air-cushioned chairsKanaya and his team, working out of the university's Mongoose Studio, designed a round table that has a computer and built-in LCD display and four air-cushioned chairs. The table and chairs are linked to each other via a wireless signal. Colour sensors in the table scan objects placed on top to determine their hue and then the computer sends a signal to the chair to match the colour of the object.

kameraflage
kameraflage(tm) - applications
kameraflageTM allows for a new level of expression for those who are required to wear a uniform. Students at private schools and employees of chain-stores will be able to express themselves to their cameraphone toting peers. Will entities that seek to enforce dress-codes be able to combat this technology? Because it is only perceptible within the confines of mediated reality (cyberspace), yet exists in physical-reality, any attempt to control this form of expression will result in forcing people to discuss this decidedly modern grey-area.

Recycling Your Gum (TreeHugger)
Recycling Your Gum (TreeHugger)
Sure, it's nothing ground-breaking or even particularly innovative; given its sheer ease-of-use and practicality, however, should that even really matter? Two companies, Canadian Envyrobubble and British Gummy Bins, have come out with a neat solution to our chronic chewing gum littering situation: little collection bins designed for public spaces that can hold 250 - 1,000 pieces of gum each. While we often tend to focus on the bigger items littering our streets and parks — soda cans, food wrappers, etc — discarded chewing gum can become a serious problem requiring a lot of man-hours and cash to remove.

The Beast vs. The Living Vampire
Jay Stephens to re-make Marvel Monster series
the news has finally leaked out about the Marvel Comics 'indy' anthology, so I might as well officially confirm my participation. Rather unsurprisingly, my short piece features a couple of characters from the '70's 'monster-hero' phase that Marvel went through during my childhood. Anyone who read the original run of Son Of Satan will get my drift, here.
