The Official Peanuts Website FAQ

Q. Who is the girl "with the naturally curly hair"?
]
A. The girl "with the naturally curly hair" is known as Frieda.

Q. What about the Little Red-Haired Girl?

A. There are two different lines of thought about "the Little Red-Haired Girl."

1) If you purely follow the strip (which is the preferred interpretation of the story lines by most PEANUTS purists), the Little Red-Haired Girl is never given a name. Actually, she's never even seen in the strip.

2) The Little Red-Haired Girl did actually appear in one of the PEANUTS TV specials ("It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown," 1977), in which she was called "Heather." But in this instance, the creative decisions regarding her appearance were decided by the show's animators - not Mr. Schulz.

Why do people yell "Free Bird!" at rock concerts?

It happens at nearly every rock show. During a lull, while the band's in between tunes, someone in the audience requests Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird." It's meant as a joke, but it's never really funny. So how did the unfortunate tradition begin?

Knock to open

a James Bond-worthy concept: knock on the door in a certain fashion, and the door'll open automatically. The idea was perfect: no need to drill holes, sneaky enough so the landlord wouldn't accidentally trigger it, easy enough to remember. The implementation was a bit more difficult: We needed something mechanical to open the lock from the inside and something to detect the knocks themselves. The first of the two wasn't too hard: the lock has a 'knob' on the inside, so you can lock and unlock the room from the inside without having the key. The second probably could be solved with a microphone, a small amplifier and a microcontroller to detect the knocks and see if they're in the right order.

Halo's Todd McFarlane controllers and wireless headset

The controller art is done by Todd McFarlane (Spawn) and also comes with a Halo 3 figurine by McFarlane Toys. So, maybe, it will end up costing $60. We'll find out more closer to release and when these items become "official".

Boy-Band Mogul's Memorabilia Auctioned

Platinum and gold records, autographed posters and even a key to the city all went "Bye Bye Bye" at an auction as creditors liquidated the assets of boy-band impresario Lou Pearlman.Hundreds of bidders packed a downtown building Tuesday for the Chapter 11 bankruptcy sale. The auction was populated mostly by middle-aged men, not the screaming young girls who drove Pearlman's bands to multi-platinum success.

Toilet Water Cleaner Than Fountain

Middle School student Kyleray Katherman had a hunch something was amiss with the school's drinking fountain water. And right he was.For an English assignment, he tested the bacteria content at four water fountains and one toilet to challenge a ban on students from bringing bottled water to class. It seems some were using it to sneak in alcohol.Guess which was cleaner? It wasn't the water fountains.

Scientists create robot toddler

The Child-Robot with Biomimetic Body, or CB2, looks at Shuhei Ikemoto, an Osaka University student, when its hand is clasped by him during a demonstration of the toddler robot at a lab of the university in Osaka, western Japan, Friday, June 8, 2007. CB2, 1.3 meters (4.3 feet) tall and weighing 33 kilograms (73 pounds), developed by JST ERATO Asada Synergistic Intelligence Project, changes facial expressions and can rock back and forth. The robot's movements are smooth as it is fitted with 56 actuators in lieu of muscle. It has 197 sensors for touch, small cameras working as eyes, and an audio sensor. CB2 can also speak using an artificial vocal cord. (AP Photo/Koji Ueda)

The First Email: "first messages were sent in late 1971. The next release of TENEX went out in early 1972 and included the version of SNDMSG with network mail capabilities.
