Tony Stark will be played by Robert Downey, Jr.
Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.
"Aint It Cool News" is reporting that the lead role of Tony Stark in the upcoming Iron Man movie will be played by none other than Robert Downy, Jr. For those uninformed of the Iron Man mythos, Tony Stark is a rich and well-respected man who develops a substance abuse problem. Hmm...
And a word of advice for this film so it doesn't go down the path of all the other comic book films. DO NOT MAKE THE WHOLE MOVIE A FREAKIN' LOVE STORY!technorati tags:current events, entertainment

WOLVERINE CLAWS
The outfit was visualized, conceived, and conceptualized entirely by Nate, as were the claws. However, Nate did pick up quite a bit of help along the way as friends came forward to participate in the creation of what many said was "The most accurate costume I have ever seen..."

Atari Music
In 1982, the record label Kid Stuff started putting out records based on the most popular video games. The first three albums were for Atari's flagship games: Asteroids, Missile Command, and Yars Revenge. Each included an incredibly catchy theme song followed by a usually rather nonsensical adventure story.

LOST WINONA
WINONA Ryder is just as loopy as she's always been. The pixiesh actress, who's been palling around with her new best friend Kate Moss lately, wandered into the SoHo shop Lounge on Sunday looking "very spooked out," an eyewitness said. "She entered through the back door and seemed lost and confused, and after looking through the entire store approached a sales rep." Ryder then shrieked, "Where am I?" before "wandering back out on the street. It was so weird." A rep for the star, who was once busted for shoplifting in Beverly Hills

John Hodgman - The I'm a PC guy
John Hodgman is a very intelligent man.He is also a very strange man. His book, The Areas of My Expertise (which has just been released in paperback by Riverhead), is an omnibus compendium of probable falsehoods. According to the dust jacket, the arenas of his know-how are centered primarily on “matters historical; matters literary; matters cryptozoological; hobo matters; food, drink, and cheese (a kind of food); squirrels and lobsters and eels; haircuts; utopia; what will happen in the future; and most other subjects.”
Sweet information! - Arts - The Phoenix

Beware the killer teddy bear
A stuffed Paddington Bear turned killer this month at a Fish and Game hatchery in Milford. The bear was dropped into a circular pool by a "person or persons unknown" and clogged the flow of water, killing 2,500 rainbow trout, according to a statement from hatchery supervisor Robert Fawcett."RELEASE OF ANY TEDDY BEARS into the fish hatchery water IS NOT PERMITTED,"Fawcett said in a written statement. He urged anyone who drops a teddy bear in the water to find a fish culturist to remove it. "They might save your teddy bear, and keep it from becoming a killer," he said.

Earth - View from Saturn
Not since NASA's Voyager 1 spacecraft saw our home as a pale blue dot from beyond the orbit of Neptune has Earth been imaged in color from the outer solar system. Now, Cassini casts powerful eyes on our home planet, and captures Earth, a pale blue orb -- and a faint suggestion of our moon -- among the glories of the Saturn system.Earth is captured here in a natural color portrait made possible by the passing of Saturn directly in front of the sun from Cassini's point of view. At the distance of Saturn's orbit, Earth is too narrowly separated from the sun for the spacecraft to safely point its cameras and other instruments toward its birthplace without protection from the sun's glare.

Scientists Find 'Lucy' Species Skeleton
NEW YORK — Scientists have discovered a remarkably complete skeleton of a 3-year-old female from the ape-man species represented by "Lucy."The discovery should fuel a contentious debate about whether this species, which walked upright, also climbed and moved through trees easily like an ape.The remains are 3.3 million years old, making them the oldest known skeleton of such a youthful human ancestor.

Dr. Suess Unorthodox Taxidermy
Seuss embarked on an ingenious project in the early 1930s as he evolved from two-dimensional artworks to three-dimensional sculptures. What was most unusual for these mixed-media sculptures was the use of real animal parts including beaks, antlers and horns from deceased Forest Park Zoo animals where Seuss’s father was superintendent. Unorthodox Collection of Taxidermy was born in a cramped New York apartment and included a menagerie of inventive creatures with names like the “Two Horned Drouberhannis,” “Andulovian Grackler,” and “Semi-Normal Green-Lidded Fawn.”

Brad Pitt in the next installment of "Mission Impossible." ?
Rumor has it that Parmount Pictures is looking to replace Tom Cruise with Brad Pitt for it's next installment of "Mission Impossible." In turn it would also make Brad Pitt the highest-paid actor in history. Brad Pitt's production company Plan B is based out of Paramount, so this does make some sense.

How Was "Starbucks" Named?
According to Howard Schultz's book Pour Your Heart Into It: How Starbucks Built a Company One Cup at a Time, the name of the company was derived from Moby-Dick, although not in as direct a fashion as many assume. Gordon Bowker liked the name "Pequod" (the ship in the novel), but his creative partner Terry Heckler objected: "No one's going to drink a cup of Pee-quod!" Heckler suggested "Starbo," the name of a mining camp on Mount Rainier. Combining the Moby-Dick idea with "Starbo" resulted in the company being named for the Pequod's first mate, Starbuck.
