The Smile Project

The Smile Project
In the fall of 2003, Bren Bataclan began his outdoor art installation, "Smile Boston Project." To start the project, the artist left his cartoon inspired paintings for people to take for "free" all over Boston (parks, trains, schools, hospitals, etc.). Attached to each painting is a note saying, "This painting is yours if you promise to smile at random people more often." Bren has since left paintings all over the globe and the Smile Project has evolved into a phenomenon that has long since eclipsed its humble beginnings. The Smile Project: Books: Bren Bataclan
