Songbird 1.0 is Here! Real Cool, but is it too late?

We set out to build an open, customizable music player. Today, we’re launching with dozens of integrated services, hundreds of add-ons, and a growing developer community. We’ll be the first to admit that there’s plenty left to do. And, while we’re not ready for everyone, 160k users a month are expressing their vote for an alternative music player. If you think like us, you’ve got huge aspirations and you’re out to change the world. You gotta start somewhere, this is our 1.0.

It's finally out of beta, much faster that before, and it's been several hours and it hasn't crashed on me yet. So that's a step up from the previous versions. I've been an on again, off again fan since it started. Let's see if this gets me on again. Although with tools like mp3tunes.com/sideloader (now called load2mobile) and foxytunes which uses the in-browser yahoo player already working in firefox... could this music player be a little too late?

  1. I don't think this competes with FoxyTunes at all. Songbird is a full-fledged media player. I don't think it's too late. There are new computer users every day.
